Kohkiri Village

Magellen’s Journal

August 1993

Heading down to the port village of Kohkiri, I see a large inn where the road bends, as it starts to head down to the docks. A sign outside swings in the breeze “The Sea Bed Inn.” Heading in, I find some creatures that I have never seen before, behind the bar, and serving drinks.

Remembering the guards were talking about creatures coming over from the Fey Wild I looked around the inn and nervously walked up to the bar. Who knows what the fey are capable of?

Looking at this huge insect with antlers and wings, “Um, Hello! I’m wondering if you may have a room available for the night? (chuckling) I know I’m looking a little rough, but I’m good for the coin.” Taking out my purse.

In an odd accent that I’m barely able to understand. “Sssseven Sssselver swone sped” Hoping I would get a room by myself, and that sped equated to bed, I gave him, her, it(?) the coins. “Would there be a bath available?” Pointing one of it’s multi jointed arms(?) towards a back door, “Sout Spack”. Handing him another coin and taking my key I head out back where there is a fire beetle on a metal leash next to a tank of water, used for a gravity shower.

After a refreshing shower, that was open to the sky, I took some time to mend and prestidigitate my clothing clean. I had a few burn holes in my clothing that would not be able to be fixed, but, it would have to work until I could get home. Lingering behind the inn I sit on a large rock and contemplate my predicament.

I know that the prophecy said there would be people to find my daughter and granddaughter and I’m not part of that prophecy. Do I give up my search and wait? Do I continue and get them as much research as possible? I don’t know when they will come into my life.

Standing up and realizing that I need a distraction, I go in search of the guards that had come to town a few days ahead of me. Back in the inn, I put my stuff in my room, go to set an alarm and realize that I am out of mana. Sighing, I grab my bag of holding and head back down, not in the mood to question the fey creatures of the inn about how they got here, I just ask directly. “Have you seen the king’s guards come through here recently?”

The fey looked at me like I was the one that had 6 arms and gesticulated with one of them pointing towards the forest “Stalking Sood”.

“Sood, um getting food? Ok…” Writing out a quick note for the guards to come knock on my door if they get back before I awake. “If the guards come back before I awake, would you give them this note?”

“Ssess”

Heading upstairs, I make some notes and take a nice long rest.

Awaking to the gentle lapping of the sea, I gather my items and turn in my key. Surprised that the same Fey was still behind the bar, I couldn’t help myself. “Do you sleep, or need to sleep?”

“Ssnot slike ssuu, Sii selax ssinssteads.”

“Right, interesting” Unsure of what it meant I headed out the door and into the woods. Pulling out my spell book, I try to decide what I want to prepare for the day. Following a path into the forest, I see an abrupt change in the foliage from coastal trees and shrubs to jungle. Following the line between the two it seems to form a perfect circle, although some of the circle is off the cliff, looking over I find vines crawling down the cliff from the jungle.

Wondering what is in the center, I sit with my spell book and prepare, before wading into the jungle.
