Shadowfell 1855
Sitting at my desk in the back of The House of the Black Lantern, I go over the orders and entertainment for the past couple of months. Looking out the window I reflect on all the life choices that got me to this point. Helping Kylune’s father, I made so many contacts in town that when the owner of this place got killed, I had no problem getting the deed from the mayor.

Putting money into this place was nothing, I had enough gold from all the side jobs trying to get Kylune out of the Shadowfell that when the roof started leaking, I could actually hire someone to replace the whole roof and fix up the rooms to where we can charge extra for some nicer rooms. After seeing what a great job they did on the third story I decided to sell the house and take over the floor for myself. Adding some windows and taking the tower for my bedroom.

A thick black smoke started spinning on the other side of the desk and Sha’drath, a green tinged elven looking creature appears through a portal and takes a seat, like teleporting into someone’s office is an everyday practice. Just because you knew he was coming today and what time, doesn’t mean it isn’t still disconcerting to have smoke just appear out of nowhere.

I scheduled the meeting a week ago, when I heard we were going to have Kas “The Bloody Handed” (servant of Vecna) and Rahadin (2nd of Strahd Von Zarovich) taking a private meeting room and their servants and guards taking all the available rooms at the inn. Having proper entertainment for them while they are here could push our inn to a new level, if they don’t burn it to the ground during the meeting…

Studying Sha’drath and how smoothly and cunningly he talked and upsold different options for entertainment for the few nights, I was impressed. Deftly denying an offer for a job, we quickly and easily came to an agreement about what services would be offered to our guests and what would be available last minute if needed.
Qolbess trained him well, idly wondering if he would also train Kylune, I watched as Sha’drath so easily conjured the black smoke to take him back to his home. No, Kylune is just a child, he doesn’t need to be caught up with those kind of people.
