The Meeting

Orkan Owner of House of the Black Lantern

December 1855

Sha’drath got here late on the 8th day, of the of the 1st week, of December. The two client’s retinues are coming tomorrow morning to confirm their rooms are set up properly and the guards on premises are up to their demanding standards. Talking with a few people around the town there will be other agents of the Kas and Rahadin around town. I hope this isn’t a fireball waiting to blow…

Yesterday I sent Kylune to go find me some frog legs for a dish I wanted to make, it should take him 4 or so days to get to Lake Sindall and another 4 days to get back. So he should be out of harms way of all of this.

Sha’drath seems nervous but in charge. He seems to be taking the meeting seriously and understands the weightiness of the situation, not just for my inn, but for the town, and possibly the future of the Shadowfell.

I’ve had cold feet all month about this meeting, not that I could have declined the meeting at the inn, when Vecna’s second in command requests to rent out your inn for a meeting with Strahd’s Second in command, you can’t exactly say no to two of the most powerful people in the shadowfell.

Taking a moment to myself as Sha’drath takes a final look around the rooms for the performers, the stage, and the fighting ring; I look over the money coming in for the meeting. I won’t actually be making anything off of this except what we make off of the liquor for the weekend. But if I can get the recognition for this meeting, I hope to be able to run off the renown for months if not years, if this goes well. Regardless of what happens, whether they start a war, sign a truce, or become friends, as long as the inn is known that it happened here, I’ll be happy.

Sha’drath procured a few werewolves from the Gruul, a savage guild in the territory of Ravnikah on the material plane, for a fighting pit. He hired a few locals to feed and take care of them for a few days. Madsyn and Thankar helped put together a portable ring for the pit fight in the town hall.
