Day 3

Orkan’s Journal

Shadowfell 1855

This is the most stressful day that I’ve ever had at The House of the Black Lantern. After last night with those werewolves getting loose and Kas and Rahadin’s guards staring each other down all night and protecting “their sides of the inn”. Today starts their negotiations. I don’t know what they are negotiating other than a “treaty” or “truce”.

Kas and Bower came down first this morning and pensively ate a full meal for breakfast. They spoke quietly and made sure none of Rahadin’s guards could overhear them. Eventually as Kas, looking at the clock on the mantle for 500th time, Rahadin and Bandard came down at precisely 10:59 and moved straight into the meeting room.

Kas and Bower follow them in and a few minutes later Bower and Bandard come out and take a private table. Trying not to enjoy each other’s company, they have a quiet lunch of sandwiches and Hag’s blood. Finally the door opens and a cocky Kas walks out the door and signals to Bower who immediately gets up and heads out to the street summoning someone in.

A giant goliath comes in carrying an elf that looks paralyzed. I have no idea what the markings mean on their face but I know I would have recognized it if I had seen it around. Maybe something from the Nine Hells or Acheron, I quickly avert my eyes in case it can see my watching. I don’t intend to make enemies of people that I don’t even know.

The Goliath deposits the elf on a chair in the meeting room and heads back out the entrance. The meeting room door closes and they continue their meeting. A short while later two glasses of Hag’s blood are ordered and sent into the room. The elf must be some sect of vampire, I guess. I don’t know what they have to do with the proceedings though.

Later into the evening, they finally come out of the meeting. Kas looks pale and tired, choosing to retire to his room for the evening instead of enjoying the entertainment Sha’drath has provided. Concerned, but glad to have most of the guards also head off, I tend to Rahadin and Bandard personally while Bower follows his master to bed.

Rahadin and Bandard have a private word and seem to be celebrating. The elf has disappeared…
